Figures show more men turning to cosmetic surgery

more men turning to cosmetic surgery

Recent data has revealed that more men are turning towards cosmetic surgery in a bid to improve their looks.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of male facelifts rose by 14 per cent in 2010.

The overall figure for men undergoing cosmetic surgery was up two per cent last year.

However, the 1.1 million men who had procedures are still a significantly smaller proportion than the 11.5 million women who had cosmetic surgery.

The increasingly simple nature of procedures could be prompting men to think again about having treatments, as they find that they need to look healthy and young to keep up with the jobs market and attract women.

One man who has had a facelift, David Culpepper, told the New York Post that he had the treatment after his fiance joked that he had a "big old saggy chin" that she didn't want to see in their wedding photos.
