Aviva welcomes new guidelines to speed up life claims across the market. Robert Morrison for Aviva says, “It is great news for customers that the ABI has now created guidance on speeding up life claims processes across the industry. Aviva has had a fast-track, high-value indemnity process in place for over five years.”
He adds, “The current industry average for a death claim to be processed is 73 days. There is a general misconception that it is the insurer that causes this delay. However the biggest part of that delay is often due to waiting for the grant of probate or Scottish equivalent to be obtained. We know that the death claim process going through the current indemnity route can be more than 50 days quicker than those who need to obtain the full grant of probate and we are keen to use this route where we can."
During 2010 Aviva paid out: £271,901,094 for life insurance claims.
