Non-surgical procedure rates 'soaring'

Cosmetic Surgery of the face
Certain cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK have soared in the past decade, it has been reported.

According to the Independent, a report conducted by Key Note revealed that between 2005 and 2009, the number of non-surgical procedures grew by 219 per cent.

The paper added that this meant the non-surgical sector outstripped 175 per cent of the cosmetic surgery industry in terms of growth.

Considering why the procedures had grown in popularity so extensively, the news source interviewed patients of Harley Street's Dr Roberto Viel.

One patient interviewed by the paper is a 38-year-old mother of two who is undergoing platelet facial rejuvenation.

Her reasons for the treatment include the idea that "sometimes it's nice to have a nice blank canvas when clothes and make-up aren't enough."

According to figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, surgical procedures are also increasing in popularity.

The latest statistics show a 6.7 per cent increase between 2008 and 2009 in the number of cosmetic surgery procedures carried out by the association's members
