Legal & General is enhancing its critical illness product, now incorporating wider definitions for eleven illnesses. These new definitions are aimed at improving clarity for consumers and reducing claims declined for not meeting policy definition.
It now also covers four new illnesses:
-
Mastectomy for ductal carcinoma in situ, requiring total removal of the breast
-
Multiple system atrophy, resulting in permanent symptoms
-
Open-heart surgery, with median sternotomy
-
Removal of an eyeball, due to injury or disease
On mastectomy, this is the first time that Legal & General has introduced a severity based cover. An additional 25% of sum assured or £25,000 (whichever is lower) is available.
