Many employers are not offering one of the most important
benefits to protect their employees and their families according to research by
Jelf Employee Benefits.
74% indicate that income protection insurance is of greater
importance to their workforce than life insurance. Yet the majority of employers offer life
cover as standard, but not income protection.
Steve Herbert of Jelf Employee Benefits says, “ Employers accept that income protection
cover is the most relevant employee benefit for their workforce. But less than half offer this benefit. Even
where an income protection policy exists, it often only covers senior
employees. Only 1 in 10 private sector employees are actually covered by an
income protection policy. Employers are failing their employees by not offering
it.”
