Older residents in a number of care homes across Bristol can enjoy an hour of sing a longs, poetry, quizzes and games thanks to a donation from Simplyhealth. The Bristol based charity Alive! received £800 from Simplyhealth and will be able to fund a further 20 interactive workshops which are designed to bring groups together through engaging and fun
Using the internet and other technology such as the latest iPads, the workshops help older people and people living with memory difficulties to use their creativity, by painting pictures or making music using the touch screen. Reminiscence and life story work is also a key element of the workshops and visual prompts are used to stimulate memories and to promote discussion.
Jamie Wilson of Simplyhealth says: "The work carried out by local charities such as Alive! is so important to the health and wellbeing of older people in residential homes right across the region. We are delighted to help Alive! to continue its positive and worthwhile work."
