could be needed by women who have suffered a miscarriage, even after a later healthy birth.
According to research conducted by the University of Bristol, many women who struggle with depression or anxiety from a stillbirth or miscarriage continue to experience these symptoms even after a healthy birth.
Looking at a total of 13,133 pregnant women were involved in the Children of the 90s study, the Bristol team found that the majority reported no previous miscarriages.
But 21 per cent had experienced one or more, while 0.5 per cent had one previous stillbirth and three women had suffered from two previous stillbirths.
Studying the information available, the team discovered that those who had lost a baby in the past demonstrated significantly higher levels of anxiety and depression during the next pregnancy and continued to suffer these symptoms for up to three years after the birth of a healthy baby.
