Majority of UK residents 'have experienced stress'

psychiatric care
A new piece of research has revealed that the majority of people in the UK have experienced mental health problems at one point or another in their lives.

Conducted by Together, a mental health charity, the survey found that 71 per cent of women and 52 per cent of men have experienced a time when they found it hard to cope mentally.

Stress was the most common problem, with 70 per cent reportedly suffering from the affliction.

Lucie Russell, director of campaigns at YoungMinds, said that more needed to be done to help people work through their mental health problems.

"Having good mental health is so important for us and yet it's still the elephant in the room. As the report shows six in ten of us have faced mental problems but we are still ashamed to admit we are finding it hard to cope or are unhappy," she said.
