Income protection specialist DG Mutual paid over 99% of its claims in 2009 for the second year running.
The society provides a regular tax-free income to members if they cannot work because of illness or injury and specialises in income protection for self-employed professionals.
In 2009, it received the highest number of claims for infections with 40% of members claiming against swine flu and viral illnesses.
David Thompson says, “Customers are understandably looking for a company they can trust and our claim rates demonstrate our commitment to our members. We take the time to carefully review a person’s medical history at the outset which then speeds up the process if someone has a genuine claim as we are fully aware of the risk.”
