Fertility clinic review service launched

the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority

Women considering fertility treatment will soon be able to take a closer look at fertility clinics following the launch of a new service.

This year's Choose a Fertility Clinic service was made available yesterday (March 8th).

While the service itself was launched last year, 2010 sees the addition of an "in depth analysis" of the clinics across the country.

Data such as the number of successful pregnancies overseen by each clinic will be included in the results.

Chair of the Human Fertilisation Embryology Authority Professor Lisa Jardine, commented: "No decision is more personal than a decision about your own fertility. We want to help people make their choices by making available as much evidence and analysis as we can provide.

"This new set of data adds a whole new dimension to what is available."

Research shows that fertility treatment is most successful on women below the age of 37.
Risks, such as the chances of losing a baby in a multiple pregnancy, are also much higher for older women.
