Harley Medical Group

Cosmetic surgery is becoming more popular among Scottish people, according to a recent study.

Conducted by Harley Medical Group, the survey found that four per cent of Scottish men and seven per cent of Scottish women are considering undergoing a form of cosmetic surgery.

The group have decided to open a new surgery in the west coast city of Glasgow coinciding with the results.

Donna Ward, clinic manager at the new facility, commented: "We're already booked out to the middle of next month. Treatments for rosacea, which is redness of the skin, and laser treatments for sun damage have been proving very popular.

"The most enquired about surgical procedures to date have been breast reduction by men and for women it is breast augmentation and uplift, with liposuction - cap down a closesecond for both males and females."

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, 2009 saw a large increase in the numbers of men interested in plastic surgery.

There was a 21 per cent rise in male procedures over the course of the year, with breast reduction proving to be the most popular procedure among men.
