A clinical trial involving the cosmetic surgery
technique Vaser Lipo has shown that it is effective at liquefying unwanted fat and tightening the skin.
The Vaser Lipo System uses an advanced fat removal technology that is designed to produce smooth and natural-looking results.
Sound Surgical Technologies, the company behind the Vaser system, has now revealed that preliminary results from a clinical study looking at the amount of post-operative skin retraction achieved by the system suggest that patients benefit from between 40 and 60 per cent tightening.
The measurements were taken over a six-month period among patients who underwent body contouring treatments on one or more areas.
Dan Goldberger, chief executive officer of Sound Surgical Technologies, commented: "Physicians have been reporting skin tightening benefits with the Vaser Lipo System since the technology was released in 2002.
"This study now provides the empirical proof of the clear advantage of using Vaser ultrasonic energy in all body contouring procedures."
A survey among cosmetic practitioners last year found that 95 per cent would recommend Vaser Lipo to other doctors or cosmetic surgery clinics.
