The wife of a retired doctor is finally enjoying a good night's sleep after her husband agreed to visit a private hospital to put an end to his snoring
Dr Jim Greaves paid for a pioneering laser treatment to be performed at the Private Clinic in London's Harley Street after being barred from his marital bed.
The retired Worcestershire GP's snoring was so bad that wife Helen made him sleep in another room and he even had to spend the night in the bathroom while on holiday so that she could get some rest.
He told the Birmingham Post: "It was only a chance meeting with a nursing colleague in the summer that led to me finding out about the laser treatment.
"During the procedure, the doctor lasers away the uvula, which is the soft piece of tissue that hangs down in the back of the throat, under local anaesthetic."
The procedure left Dr Greaves with a painful throat for a couple of days, but he told the newspaper that his noise levels dropped "significantly" within a week.
Patients can undergo a range of procedures at the Private Clinic of Harley Street, including male chest reduction, laser hair removal and laser liposuction.
