Bupa releases summary of critical illness claims

Bupa paid out an average benefit of £93 000 to consumers claiming on their critical illness policies in 2008.

The most common cause for a claim was cancer (58%), followed by heart attack (11%). Females were more likely to claim for cancer on their policies with 74% of payouts being for the development of the condition.
