An increasing amount
of men are looking at the benefits of cosmetic surgery.
Dr Kieren Bong, cosmetic doctor at Essence Medical Cosmetic Clinic, said
that in recent years the number of men looking "to make the most" of
their physical anatomy had increased steadily.
He explained around 15 per cent of his current patients are male and they are
now seeing cosmetic surgery as more socially acceptable than they have done at
any point in the past.
"Men, historically, are quite shy and embarrassed about coming to cosmetic
surgeries, but that is changing more and more," stated the expert.
All people, men and women no longer feel embarrassed about having cosmetic
procedures and openly talk to their friends about it, Dr Bong added.
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, rhinoplasty
is the most popular operation among British males, with 1,043 procedures being
carried out during 2011.
