A new era in healthcare provision in Wales is marked today [1 June 2010] as the new Vale Hospital, at Hensol Park, opens. This is part of Vale Healthcare’s multi-million pound development. The Vale Hospital brings the latest healthcare technology to south Wales as well as significant employment of more than 100 people.
The state of the art hospital will expand choice in private healthcare for the whole of south Wales, by delivering a full range of speciality clinics, treatments and surgery including orthopaedics, cosmetics, cardiology, gastroenterology and general surgery.
Situated within 3.5 acres of parkland estate adjacent to the Vale Resort in Hensol, the Vale Hospital comprises 25 en-suite bedrooms as well as two high-dependency beds and six consulting rooms. Two custom-designed fully digital surgical theatres have been installed at the hospital - the most technologically advanced theatres of their kind in Wales.
The digital theatres utilise full high definition (HD) technology which will allow surgeons to see things with greater clarity than is possible with current technology. This will make complex surgery – such as ‘keyhole’ surgery – far easier.
The installation of these theatres cements Vale Healthcare’s role as providing Wales with the best in healthcare technology, using the latest infection control techniques.
Commenting on the state-of–the-art technology that will be available, Consultant General Surgeon, Tim Havard says: “The High Definition picture quality will be of great benefit and allow for complex surgery to be carried out far easier. It will also be very helpful to have instant access to x-rays and other patient information; this will be displayed on big screens within the operating theatre and will allow myself and my colleagues to have all the information we need at our fingertips.”
