A major name in private hospitals - Ramsay Health Care - has been declared the secondary provider of the year at the Health Investor Awards.
With responsibility for the running of 30 UK private hospitals, the provider is also gearing up to invest £28 million throughout 2009 and 2010 in upgrading and improving the service it provides.
Expansion and ambitions to increase operational capacity by 17 per cent are just some of the initiatives that led to Ramsay beating six contenders to scoop the award.
Jill Watts commented: "Ramsay are thrilled to have been named secondary provider of the year. 2008 was our first year of business in the UK, so [it] is a real honour to be recognised in this way in such a short time.
"The award reflects the hard work of all our UK and Australian colleagues in getting Ramsay Health Care UK off to a flying start."
Ramsay Health Care was founded in 1964 and now runs 100 hospitals and surgery facilities around the world.
