Cosmetic dentistry is becoming increasingly popular as people look to replicate the perfect
smiles they see in films and magazines and gain the confidence boost this
brings.
Dental Health Magazine has highlighted some of the current trends in the
industry.
The publication said that indirect dental fillings - also referred to as inlays
or onlays - can restore the appearance of a decayed tooth to the point where
nobody will even be able to tell that dental work has been carried out.
Tooth bonding, where a composite is applied directly on to the surface of the
teeth, can also dramatically improve the appearance of a damaged smile, state
the experts.
Finally, teeth whitening is set to remain popular, but the site stresses that
reconstructive cosmetic work should be undertaken before stains are tackled.
According to the latest statistics from the British Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry, 27 per cent of the UK population believe the dental work can improve
their quality of life.
