A breast cancer sufferer has won national recognition in Scotland thanks to her extensive fundraising
efforts.
Rosie Sutherland has been short-listed in No 1 magazine for the title of
Scotland's most inspirational woman.
Despite being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, resulting in breast
surgery, she has taken it upon herself to raise thousands for Breast Cancer
Care. To date she has raised £30,000 for the charity by posing in two nude
calendars.
"I am overwhelmed to be in the final for No.1 magazine's Super Role
Model 2012," she told the Scotsman.
"I certainly didn't think I would be worthy of this nomination,"
she concluded.
According to Cancer Research UK, an estimated 850 people each day are
diagnosed with cancer.
One of the key factors affecting breast cancer risk is a woman's weight,
with the build-up of fat around the torso boosting the likelihood a person will
suffer from the disease, states Dr Davina Deniszczyc, professional head of
physicians and diagnostics at Nuffield Health.
