Hospital group attacks insurers for lack of innovation

In an upcoming article in a leading health insurance trade magazine, Adrian Fawcett of BMI Healthcare, Britain's largest private hospital group, will tell Health Insurance readers that insurers have failed to design policies tailored to different segments of the population, despite facing numerous threats including the falling value of investments. He believes that insurers have not done very well on innovation and only offer a limited range of products.

Recently, Dr Natalie Jane Macdonald of Bupa told a conference of health insurance brokers that insurers need to develop more products to respond to the strengths and weakness of the NHS for different age groups. Since her comments, the government has released details of a major overhaul of the NHS and insurers will need to design products to meet the new order.
