Cosmetic surgery 'can tackle ageing'

neck lift

Cosmetic surgery procedures can be used to tackle the ageing process in areas other than the face.
This is the view of Lisa Littlehales, nurse counsellor at the Harley Medical Group.
Ms Littlehales said: "As well as the face, hands are a big give-away of age, as are the neck and decolletage areas."
However, to combat these the nurse suggested trying treatments such as dermal fillers and chemical peels.
More intense forms of cosmetic surgery could include a neck lift.
This involves an incision down the front of the ear, underneath the earlobe and then into the hairline, Ms Littlehale explained.
Excess skin is then carefully removed from the neck and chin areas before the surgeon tightens underlying muscles and repositions facial tissue.
The nurse's recommendations follow the release of research conducted by Sainsbury's Finance which revealed that £4.77 million was borrowed by people in the UK in order to pay for cosmetic surgery procedures in 2009.
