A number of UK Bupa
employees have won global awards for service or innovation, the company has revealed.
The Bupa One Life awards are handed out every year to members of the private healthcare group's 55,000-strong staff.
Julia Hurst, director of human resources at Bupa Care Services, revealed that winners receive their awards for going above and beyond in their support for care home residents, or for using innovative ideas to improve their provision of care.
"It is a tribute to their dedication that this year alone the awards committee received more than 2,100 nominations for people working in our care homes," she revealed.
"They all deserve praise for the way they have worked to further improve the quality of care for our residents."
One of the winners who received her award at a special ceremony at London's Royal Opera House was Helen Saunders, the home manager at Elmridge Nursing Home, who recognised the potential for installing emergency space blankets at the care home's exits for use in an evacuation.
The idea may now be introduced in all of Bupa's 303 nursing and residential homes in the UK.
