New HIV health support service launched in London

Sexual health - male female symbol

A new pan-London health support service for people living with HIV is being launched by the Terrence Higgins Trust and the charity NAM on Monday (July 7th).

The HIV Health Support Service will provide one-to-one or group meetings with a health trainer so that people who have recently been diagnosed with HIV or are thinking of changing their treatment regime can obtain information and advice.

A recent pilot in south London proved successful with many people finding it useful, according Adam Wilkinson, London operations manager at the Terrence Higgins Trust.

"It's about making people experts in their own condition so they can manage it better day to day," Mr Wilkinson said, adding that the service is "relevant, convenient and flexible".

People can arrange to see a health worker by phoning 0845 12 21 200 and can arrange a meeting at their own home, at their HIV clinic, at another venue or over the phone.
