A new health insurance law for Dubai is expected to take six months to formulate.
The proposed Dubai health insurance scheme, covering UAE nationals, residents and visitors, comes on the heels of the Abu Dhabi universal health insurance scheme.
A statement from the Dubai Executive Council stated that the Health Insurance Committee will consult extensively with "senior professionals in the medical insurance industry on health and medical issues", a process that is expected to last six months.
It will probably be something similar to Abu Dhabi. It would reduce confusion and streamline the process.
Effectively, all expats will have to have some form of international health insurance.
