A catalogue offering non-surgical cosmetic treatments has prompted surgeons to issue a warning to consumers.
Experts at the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) are concerned that consumers will be less likely to consider the effects of non-surgical procedures which, they point out, are irreversible.
Baaps president Douglas McGeorge warned: "I'm surprised that any cosmetic surgery company claiming to provide quality of care would choose to market through a clothing catalogue.
"It is essential the public understand that aesthetic procedures, even if they are non-surgical, are not commodities to buy off-the-shelf and cannot later be exchanged for a different style or size."
Mr McGeorge noted that injectable treatments, such as Botox, sometimes provoke side-effects and stressed that patients considering cosmetic surgery or non-surgical treatments should always seek a proper consultation and ensure they are thoroughly informed.
Which? health adviser Frances Blunden also condemned the catalogue, telling Metro that obtaining Botox by mail order could make treatments seem "very trivial when it is a serious decision".
