One in three do not have travel insurance and
over 1 in 10 people have never had any kind of travel insurance when going
abroad. A survey carried out on behalf of Asda says that many consumers believe
travel insurance is not necessary as they are covered elsewhere.
One pointed out: "My own private medical
insurance covers me for injury, and the excess on my household policy covers me
for loss or theft of belongings outside the home." This may or may not be
true. But the individual concerned may not have full cover whilst abroad on
holiday.
People were asked to rank the most important
benefits of a travel insurance policy.
100% chose the cover of medical and emergency
expenses as their most important benefit of travel insurance cover.
When compared to the price of a holiday, the cost
of travel insurance is a drop in the ocean.
