More men are seeking cosmetic surgery

The Hospital Group - non-surgical treatment

A new survey has revealed that men are spending just as much time and effort as women on making themselves look and feel fantastic by getting cosmetic surgery.

New figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) revealed that more men are seeking Botox to help them achieve a youthful look. Demand for the procedure grew by 21 per cent among men last year who wanted to enhance their looks with the treatment.

The number of surgical procedures also increased last year with over 36,400 cosmetic surgery operations performed, a steady increase of 6.7 per since 2008.

But the biggest increases were recorded in male surgery. By far the most popular procedure was gynaecomastia which helps men to reduce their ‘man boobs’ after BAAPS reported a staggering 80 per cent increase in the operations.

Malebrow lifts rose by 51 per cent whilst male facelifts went up nearly a quarter to 23 per cent and male tummy tucks increased by 20 per cent.

Operations for women also proved popular with an overall increase of five per cent, however, male surgery far outstripped them with an overall increase of 21 per cent.

For those looking to gain a more youthful complexion The Hospital Group provide a range of anti ageing treatments and procedures performed in state-of-the-art facilities by fully trained practitioners.

The Hospital Group is one of the UK’s biggest providers of cosmetic surgery procedures including youth enhancing facelifts and eye bag surgery as well as breast augmentation and liposuction for a younger looking figure.

David Ross, Chief executive of The Hospital Group, which has 19 clinics across the UK said: “We have seen a large increase in the amount of men and also women who want to improve their appearance.

“If someone feels self conscious about their looks it can impact on every aspect of their life causing them to feel down and lose confidence at work as well as their social life. But by improving the way you look can help you to live a much more fuller life and improve a person’s confidence substantially.

“Many people simply want to enhance their looks and Botox and Dermal fillers can do this by giving a smooth and rejuvenated appearance.”
