Cosmetic dental procedures 'increasingly popular'

cosmetic dentistry

Certain cosmetic dental procedures are becoming increasingly popular with adults, research from an orthodontic practice has revealed.

Turret Orthodontics, the largest practice in the north-west, found that the number of adults looking to be fitted with dental braces increased by 560 per cent between 205 and 2009 when compared to the previous four year period.

The figures make braces one of the most popular cosmetic treatments, falling closely behind breast enhancements, veneers, fillers and Botox™.

Dr Mohit Khurana, a consultant orthodontist, commented: "It’s clear that more and more adults are acutely aware of the powerful influence that having straight teeth and a confident smile can have, both personally and professionally."

He added that investing in a straighter smile is beneficial to your dental health as well as your personal confidence.

According to Dr Khurana, uneven teeth can lead to poor oral hygiene as well as difficulty with biting, chewing and talking.
