Having a baby is the most likely reason for a woman to gain
weight, a survey has revealed.
The survey, from slimming group Slimming World, found that having a baby is the most likely reason for weight gain in women.
Dr Jacquie Lavin, head of nutrition and research at Slimming World, added that this weight gain was "perfectly understandable" but advised that with healthy eating it was avoidable.
"Common misconceptions mean that many women think they should be 'eating for two' and putting their feet up while pregnant. This can cause them to gain excess weight which can be hard to lose afterwards," she said.
The survey's findings are backed up by results from Weight Loss Resources which suggested that after stress and boredom, have a baby is the most likely reason for weight gain with 34 per cent of women putting on weight after having children.
