Record numbers seek cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgeons have noticed a significant rise in the number of people booking appointments to go under the knife, reports suggest.

Transform Medical Group has witnessed such an increase in demand that it has been forced to take on extra staff in order to cope with inquiries.

The cosmetic surgery group revealed that there has already been a 40 per cent rise in demand this year, with many people spurred into action because of their Christmas weight gain.

Gastric band inquiries used to account for just two per cent of calls but this has risen to eight per cent, while the number of inquiries about liposuction has risen by 21 per cent.

Spokesperson Shami Thomas commented: "Christmas can be a depressing time once the guilt sets in after a period of over-indulgence.

"But for some, starting yet another dieting programme or joining a gym is too much of a daunting process or they don't see immediate results."

Transform has been carrying out cosmetic surgery in the UK for over 30 years. It operates 20 clinics across the country, providing both surgical and non-surgical procedures.
