Scotland's first luxury private healthcare clinic is set to open next month and hopes to attract patients from professional sports clubs and existing private hospitals, reports reveal.
The £8 million Edinburgh Clinic has come into existence thanks to a group of leading medical consultants, former Glenmorangie executive Alasdair Muir and finance director Ray Stanbridge, Scotland on Sunday reports.
Mr Stanbridge told the newspaper that the clinic will provide a range of treatments, including keyhole surgery and scanning services.
"There really is nothing quite like this north of the Watford Gap," he enthused.
"Although these sorts of niche clinics are common in London and the south-east, we are the first of a kind in Scotland."
The finance man conceded that Edinburgh's financial community had been growing more rapidly at the time when the business plan was originally drawn up.
However, he insisted that although this may not now be the case, demand for private healthcare is still strong in Edinburgh.
According to the Edinburgh Clinic's website, it is housed in "sumptuous surroundings" in the leafy suburbs of Morningside and will offer "the highest standard of medical and surgical expertise".
