The size of
breast implants a patient chooses to have is important for their ensuing satisfaction, a cosmetic surgery expert has said.
Breast augmentation specialist Dr Paul Parker said that computer images can never offer an entirely true picture of how a patient will look after surgery and that consumers must be confident in their decision prior to the operation.
"We know from the data that a major cause of dissatisfaction, and even re-operation, in breast augmentation patients is the choice of size," he revealed.
Breast surgery has remained one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery in the UK.
According to surgeon James McDiarmid, who has a private clinic in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, "Cosmetic breast surgery is still my number one".
The surgeon told the Gloucestershire Echo: "The majority of the people I see for breast surgery are aged between 20 and 40, but I also see some people who are in their late teens or who are over 50."
