There has been a massive increase in the number of people undergoing non-cosmetic surgical treatments, experts have revealed.
Recent figures show that there has been a 66 per cent increase in the number of procedures, such as laser treatments and botox injections, over the last six years in the US, reflecting their growth in popularity in the UK.
According to experts, their popularity is largely due to the fact that unlike invasive cosmetic surgery, patients can quickly return to their daily lives.
Dermatologist Dr Victor Ross, director of the Laser and Cosmetic Centre at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, told the LA Downtown News: "People are really busy and don't want to take time off to recover from surgery.
"Today there are a lot of things that people who are 30 to 60 or older can do that are far less invasive and lets them get back into action quickly."
Non-invasive treatments can produce lasting results over a short period of time and are expected to continue to increase in popularity over the coming 12 months.
