Sir Michael Parkinson, arguably the nation's favourite chat show host, who is recently retired from his chat shows, and was knighted in this year's New Year's honours list, is the new face of the Guaranteed Over 50 Plan from AXA Sun Life Direct.

A multi-media advertising campaign, starring Sir Michael, launches in early January 2008 and includes television and print advertising. The television commercial sees Sir Michael in a setting reminiscent of his "Parkinson" show where he explains how simple the Over 50 Plan is and what the benefits are.

Mark Howes, Managing Director of AXA Direct, says: "We are absolutely delighted to have signed up Sir Michael Parkinson to be the face of our new advertising campaign. He is known as a man of integrity and is instantly recognisable. As a straight talking Yorkshireman, he is a perfect fit for a straightforward financial solution such as the Guaranteed Over 50 Plan."

Sir Michael Parkinson's high profile career spanned more than 36 years and over 600 TV shows before his recent retirement from his chat shows. During this time he won countless awards including several National Television awards including a BAFTA in 1999 and he was also given a CBE in 2000.

AXA Sun Life Direct will continue to use June Whitfield and Annette Crosbie in its advertising during 2008.
