A new campaign called Be Wise About Beauty, has been launched in America to help patients considering cosmetic enhancement get the information they require.

The scheme intends to supply potential applicants for plastic surgery with accurate facts which should be taken into consideration when deciding on procedures.

Surgeon qualifications and common misconceptions about surgery are addressed on the campaign website.

It also contains a useful interactive questionnaire to help the curious discover whether cosmetic surgery is right for them.

Announced at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery's scientific meeting, which is currently taking place in Phoenix USA, the scheme intends to promote patient safety.

Dr Neil Sadick, president of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation commented: "With this initiative, cosmetic surgeons hope to help separate myth from reality when it comes to cosmetic enhancement."

In addition, the service provides a list of questions which patients ought to ask their medical practitioner when choosing a surgeon to carry out procedures.
