Financial advice group Origen, has launched a private medical insurance policy for the over 55s, underwritten by AXA-PPP healthcare, called Retirement Essentials. Origen is owned by insurer AEGON UK.
The policy is aimed at the growing over-55s individual market and has been designed to supplement the NHS, by providing cover in treatment areas known to have long waiting lists and which can have a marked impact on quality of life.
The four areas of benefit covered are heart, eye, joint replacement and inguinal hernia repair.
John Horley, Head of Healthcare at Origen, said: "The product enables over 55's to either enter the medical insurance market for the first time, or possibly transfer from group schemes or individual schemes."
