Health Shield adds new cover level to cash plan

Health Shield has a new Access Level for its voluntary employee-paid Corporate Scheme, targeting those with a smaller budget, from £1.25 per week. Cognitive behavioural therapy is now included in all Corporate cash plans, as is the excess payment that is not covered by private medical insurance on its specialist consultation fees benefit.

The insurer has held prices for the third year running on company paid Cover for You Essentials and Essentials Plus schemes. But premiums for its Cover for You and Your Partner equivalents have been increased. Philip Wood of Health Shield explains, "Due to the higher value and increasing numbers of claims we have had to increase pricing on some schemes. The introduction of a new entry level within the voluntary corporate scheme will hopefully generate an increase in the number of people wishing to take advantage of the healthcare benefits. In the current economic climate, we feel it is extremely important to provide membership plans that are simple, flexible and affordable to all."
