Fortis begins using Ageas name

Fortis has begun the change of name to Ageas. This follows the approval of shareholders earlier in the year to adopt the new name reflecting the company's status as a standalone global insurance group after the disposal of its banking assets in 2009.

The changes are now being implemented as part of a phased approach to ensure a smooth transition. All changes are expected to be complete by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

The name is accompanied by a fresh look and feel. The free-drawn coloured circles around the name in the logo express a sense of energy and desire to get things done.

The company's legal entities will change:

  • Fortis UK is now Ageas UK
  • Fortis Insurance Limited is now Ageas Insurance Limited
  • Fortis Life will change to Ageas in January 2011
  • RIAS will retain the same brand name
