A host of top model
agencies have agreed to join an effort to reduce the number of people who are
currently undergoing cancer treatment for melanomas.
Storm, Elite, Next, Premier Model Management, Models 1, FM, Nevs, Oxygen,
Union, First and D1, have reached an agreement with Cancer Research UK's R UV
UGLY campaign to install a zero-tolerance policy on sunbed use.
"Supporting this campaign makes perfect sense as the wellbeing of our
models is of paramount importance and we take a serious approach to their
health," said Sarah Doukas, managing director of Storm.
More than 30 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the
UK every day and the charity has championed a no sunbed policy for a long time.
Last year, it worked with Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts to help support new
laws in England and Wales preventing children under the age of 18 from using
them.
