Healthy-looking skin can be achieved by using sunscreen and maintaining a healthy diet.
This is according to recent comments from Sally Penford, education manager for the International Dermal Institute, who suggested that a sunscreen product is the one item she would definitely recommend.
"The second tip would be a good diet. Eat fresh foods, lots of fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water," the dermal expert added.
However, drinking too much coffee or alcohol can have the opposite effect, she warned, but ensuring you do not overindulge in these items should allow things to balance out.
The comments follow the publication of research suggesting that a sugar compound from a tropical flower can function as an anti-ageing cream.
Rhamnose, which is derived from the Uncaria flower, was found by L'Oreal scientists to actively regenerate skin by making it plumper and more elastic.
It does this by encouraging the production of collagen.
