3.5 million people have changed their will during the past two years, with many of them selling off belongings to help make ends meet, suggests a survey of 3000 people for engage Mutual.
It says that although half of the adult population has made a will but in the past two years, 15 % of them sold things that would have been in their wills.
One in three of those who have made a will are concerned that by the time they die they will have spent everything they had to pass on. One in five keep changing their minds about the contents of their will, while one in five worry about who should benefit from their inheritance.
Karl Elliott at engage Mutual says, "Wills are an important part of life planning and are there to ensure that your wishes are carried out when you die. It can be a complex process.”
