An increasing number of people are considering laser eye surgery as the procedure is reportedly viewed by many as a safe and convenient alternative to glasses and contacts.
Tony Veverka, chief executive of Ultralase, said that there are a number of reasons why people are tempted to undergo the surgery.
These could be practical reasons, such as the fact that not wearing glasses gives you the "complete freedom to do things you love at a moment's notice, such as skiing, swimming, golfing of even just walking in the rain".
However, for others it is more about the way the look and the fact that they feel more confident without the need to rely on a temporary form of vision correction.
The comments come as Ultralase is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The group was the first private company in the UK to offer laser eye surgery and was also the first to have its results verified in order to show patients "real transparency" in terms of what they can expect.
