2011 to be 'fantastic year' for cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgery will enjoy a "fantastic year" in 2011, it has been suggested.

Bill Green, managing director of London-based cosmetic surgery clinic botonics, said that innovations in the sector are increasing.

"The year ahead is set to be fantastic for the cosmetic surgery market, with more and more advances in popular treatments such as Botox, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years," he explained.

His comments follow predictions from the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors, which suggested that injection procedures are likely to show signficiant growth over the course of the year.

Recent research revealed that Botox-type treatments could have health benefits in addition to their cosmetic effects.

Published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the study found that 60 per cent of the 69 patients with migraines assessed reported that their headaches improved after the cosmetic surgery procedure.

Furthermore, 29 per cent said that their migraines had been completely eliminated.
