Mr Francis was flying his kite when a freak accident caused him to be lifted off the ground 6 feet before falling on his head. He shattered several vertebrae, broke his left wrist, suffered broken ribs and bruising. Mr Francis was initially told that he would never walk again. He underwent operations on his wrist, had a steel rod inserted in his back and had operations to realign vertebrae with titanium bracing.
