An Essex private care home has undergone a significant development programme, with additional bedrooms and facilities being added for residents' comfort.
Colonia Court has benefited from a £1 million investment from Bupa and will now be able to accommodate even more residents in its comfortable surroundings.
The care home's specialist Huntington's disease unit, Amber Lodge, now has eight extra bedrooms, meaning that it can accommodate a total of 28 patients.
The dedicated unit has also been fitted with flat screen televisions, a new lounge area, dining rooms and an internet cafe.
Home manager Harvey Newman said that the revamp to Amber Lodge - one of only a handful of specialist Huntington's units in the UK - is a "welcome development".
He commented: "Many residents with Huntington's value their own space and welcome the freedom of having more room, such as more lounges and activity areas.
"Also, the new facilities, like the internet cafe, will help keep residents stimulated and motivated," he added.
