Lower-positioned eyebrows "the new ideal"

Surgeons are increasingly being asked to make eyebrows lower when carrying out facial cosmetic surgery.

According to surgeons, this is a sign that high, arched eyebrows are no longer in fashion, despite enjoying many years of popularity.

Researchers from the University of Regensburg, Germany, have advised that "current concepts of brow lift indications need to be reconsidered", the Independent reports.

In a study of around 350 people between the ages of 12 and 85, the researchers found that younger men and women tended to rate lower eyebrow positions as being more attractive, while older people still thought that the arched type were more desirable.

"Young people up to 29 years of age judge arched eyebrows to be unattractive and prefer the lower positioned eyebrow", they wrote in the journal Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

"This form has become more prevalent over the past several years and can currently be described as the new ideal", they added.
