Women who are using false eyelashes and eyelash extensions are finding themselves in need of cosmetic surgery.
According to Farjo Medical Centre, there has been an increasing number of enquiries from young women who have damaged their own eyelashes through overusing the false versions.
The medical group reported that the tension created by the false eyelash glue was pulling out the natural eyelashes.
Dr Bessam Farjo commented: "We're seeing a significant number of enquiries from patients who have suffered from damage caused by repeatedly wearing false eyelashes.
"As with any hair follicle, eyelashes will cease to grow if they are repeatedly plucked out at the root. Hair transplant surgery may seem like an extreme solution, but in many cases it's the only way to restore hair permanently."
Mr Farjo added that the replacement method is only guaranteed for as long as the patient refrains from putting an increased strain on the hair follicle.
