Expert recommends research before cosmetic surgery

There are great surgeons all over the world, says an industry commentator, but people need to make sure they are of top quality before going to them for cosmetic surgery.

Katharine Griffiths, editor of Cosmetic Surgery Today, pointed out that when people are considering going abroad for an operation, research is the key to finding out which is the best doctor to go to.

In her view, it is just the same as finding a doctor or clinic in the UK, as you would look into the establishment's history and surgeons in that situation, too.

She said: "There are some fantastic surgeons, doctors and medical centres abroad, just as there are in the UK."

A study by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons found that breast augmentation was the most popular operation for women to have in 2008 and the number of women getting it done had increased by 30 per cent from the previous year.
