'Dramatic' rise in over-50s cosmetic dentistry

There has been a significant rise in the number of over-50s seeking cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic treatments, a London cosmetic dentist has revealed.

Despite the recession, Dr Anoop Maini of Aqua Dental Spa has witnessed a 63 per cent increase in patients since October 2008.

Dr Maini revealed that patients tend to select tooth whitening treatments, dermal fillers or Botox, showing that over-50s are "still happy to invest in themselves" despite the economic conditions.

"Improving the way you look goes a great way to improving how you feel," the lead clinician claimed.

"It's not uncommon for this age group to be thinking about investing in themselves after years of working and looking after families, but the current financial climate certainly seems to be accelerating this."

The expert revealed that many patients who invest in cosmetic dentistry also choose to have fillers or botox to improve the appearance of the area around their mouth.

"What is the point of spending money on a great set of teeth if the mouth area is looking tired, droopy or wrinkled?" he pointed out.

Aqua Dental Spa takes a modern approach to dentistry, providing treatments in relaxing surroundings complete with aromatherapy oils, massage treatments and herbal eye masks.
