Dedicated support for cancer sufferers

Health insurance company, Norwich Union Healthcare recognises the serious impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on someone’s life. For that reason, a pilot project created a dedicated Oncology Unit to provide support for customers during the claims process.

The pilot has been a success, so the team is being increased from 8 to 22. It will include a range of experienced health claims professionals who have experience in oncology and general nursing.

Norwich Union Healthcare's cancer claims service is available to all of its customers. The specialist Oncology Unit is designed to treat customers sensitively using dedicated and specially trained staff that can provide access to a range of information services, as well as working closely with doctors and hospitals.

Customers using the service are allocated a personal case handler who supports them throughout their claim. The team works in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and advises customers of the wide range of services that the charity provides to people affected by cancer.
